Cattleya granulosa ‘Coliseu’ x ‘Formosa’ is getting harder to find now; this species is endemic to the state of Pernambuco in Brazil. It grows on trees in high places near swampy coastal areas. Altitudes from 600 to 900 meters above sea level. These are large plants, up to 60 cm in height.

Cattleya granulosa orchid flowers are very fragrant, characteristically shaped, with lateral sepals curved down and slightly inward. The petals and sepals are usually apple green or olive green in color and dotted with small specks. The lip is long and creamy at the base, fading to a bright raspberry-violet on the anterior lobe. The flowers are long-lived and shiny, 15 cm in diameter.

Cattleya flowers in summer. In the culture of Cattleya granulosa, the orchid is of moderate or warm content. In general, care for her is the same as for Cattleya loddigesii and its hybrids.

The flowers of Cattleya granulosa 'Coliseu' x Cattleya granulosa 'Formosa' are similar to those of Cattleya schofieldiana. The flowers are almost identical. They are distinguished by morphology. The orchid Cattleya schofieldiana, which grows naturally in Espirito Santo and the state of Bahia, has thinner pseudobulbs and leaves.

The orchid Cattleya granulosa is found naturally in the northeastern part of the Brazilian coast. Most often these are more massive orchids, similar to Cattleya guttata or Cattleya amethystoglossa.
