Angraecum drouhardii is a captivating miniature orchid species native to the mountainous regions of Northern Madagascar. Known for its delightful charm, this epiphytic orchid thrives on the moss-covered trunks of trees at altitudes around 1200 meters. Despite its small size, it surprises orchid enthusiasts with its ginormous white blooms that showcase the stunning form typical of the Angraecum genus, complete with a long nectary that elegantly extends below the flower.

Cultivation Tips:

  • Temperature: Angraecum drouhardii flourishes in cool to intermediate temperatures, ideally between 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). Avoid exposing it to extreme heat or cold to ensure healthy growth.

  • Light: This orchid prefers soft, indirect light. Place it near a window with filtered light or under grow lights to mimic its natural habitat without causing leaf burn.

  • Humidity: Maintaining a high humidity level (around 60-80%) is crucial for the health of Angraecum drouhardii. Consider using a humidity tray or a humidifier to create an ideal environment.

  • Watering: Water regularly but ensure proper drainage, as this orchid does not tolerate standing water. Allow the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings, keeping in mind that the humidity will also influence your watering schedule.

  • Growing Medium: Use a well-draining orchid mix that retains some moisture while allowing for good airflow. A blend of bark, sphagnum moss, and perlite works wonderfully.

This is a blooming size in a 3" pot about 1 to 2 years to bloom, grown from seed, limited!

With proper care, Angraecum drouhardii will reward you with its magnificent flowers, making it a cherished addition to any orchid collection.
