With numerous 4" mauve-colored flowers, and has a lovely pink orchid with purple spots perfumes with the scent of cotton candy. This orchid is a true showstopper, adding elegance and beauty to any collection.

One of the distinguishing features of this orchid is the genetic characteristic that displays spotting on its new growths, reminiscent of beauty spots. These spots enhance the overall charm and allure of the plant, making it a must-have for orchid enthusiasts.

Native to the coastal regions of Brazil, specifically the states of Bahia and possibly Espirito Santo, the Cattleya amethystoglossa

var. tipo thrives in cool to warm growing conditions. It can reach up to 1 meter in height, although in cultivation it typically stays smaller, around 60-80 cm. The plant features tall, cylindrical pseudobulbs that bear two apical leaves, each measuring up to 25 cm long.

Blooming in the fall, winter, and early spring, this orchid produces a magnificent terminal inflorescence with 10 to 30 fragrant flowers. The flowers themselves are approximately 10 cm in diameter and showcase a lovely lavender-pink coloration. Darker spots surround a vibrant violet-magenta lip, although the exact coloration can vary.

Cultivating and caring for this orchid is relatively straightforward. It thrives in bright light and high humidity conditions. However, it's crucial to allow the plant to dry out between waterings, as it does not appreciate overly wet media. During the summer months, when temperatures rise, the plant may require daily watering, depending on the potting medium used.

Please note that it's best to avoid repotting, mounting, or dividing the plants until they have put out new growth and roots. Disturbing the plant outside of its growing period can often lead to decline.

This is a near blooming size in a 4” clay pot, about 2+ years to bloom, grown from seed, limited!

With its enchanting blooms and unique genetic characteristics, the Cattleya amethystoglossa var. tipo is a must-have for orchid enthusiasts and collectors alike. Add a touch of elegance and natural beauty to your space with this exceptional orchid species.
