Cultivating Tips:

Light: Blc. Sanyung Ruby 'Grand Dragon' thrives in bright, indirect light. Aim for 2,000 to 3,000 foot-candles. Morning sunlight is ideal, but protect the plant from harsh midday sun to prevent leaf burn. If growing indoors, placing the orchid near an east or south-facing window is recommended.

Temperature: This hybrid prefers intermediate to warm temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures range from 75°F to 85°F (24°C to 29°C), while nighttime temperatures should be between 60°F to 65°F (15°C to 18°C). A slight temperature drop at night can encourage blooming.

Humidity: Maintain humidity levels between 50% and 70%. To increase humidity, especially in dry environments, use a humidity tray or a room humidifier. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.

Watering: Water thoroughly when the potting medium is almost dry. Typically, this means watering once a week during active growth periods and reducing frequency during cooler months. Avoid letting the roots sit in water, as this can lead to root rot.

Fertilizing: Feed the orchid with a balanced orchid fertilizer (20-20-20) diluted to half strength every two weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding to once a month during fall and winter.

Potting: Repot every two years or when the potting medium breaks down, typically in the spring after blooming. Use a well-draining medium, such as a mix of bark, perlite, and charcoal. Ensure the new pot provides adequate drainage.

Blooming: Blc. Sanyung Ruby 'Grand Dragon' can bloom multiple times a year. After blooming, cut the spent flower spike just above the nearest node to encourage new growth.
